The Anambra State Police Command has arraigned four suspects over separate cases of child defilement before the Children, Sexual and Gender-Based Violence Court sitting in Awka.

Police spokesperson, SP Anambra State Police Command who confirmed the development in a statement on Thursday, said the arraignment took place on August 20, 2025. The suspects were brought before the court on charges of defilement and related offences.

Ikenga noted that the accused persons have been remanded at the Correctional Centre pending further court proceedings.

He added that the Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, reiterated the Command’s resolve to protect children and other vulnerable persons across the state.

“Acts of sexual abuse and violence will not go unpunished. We are committed to ensuring offenders face the full weight of the law,” the CP was quoted as saying.

The Police Command urged residents to continue reporting cases of gender-based violence, assuring the public that such reports will receive swift and professional attention.
