The All Progressives Congress (APC) has faulted claims by the African Democratic Congress (ADC) alleging that civil servants are being coerced to participate in the ruling party’s ongoing electronic membership registration, describing the allegation as false, baseless and a product of panic.
In a statement issued on Monday in Abuja, the APC said the ADC’s claims were driven by fear over the “massive and unprecedented” turnout recorded in the party’s nationwide e-registration exercise.
The APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, CON, said the opposition party was attempting to undermine what he described as a “cutting-edge and pathbreaking” digitisation of the APC’s membership register.
According to Morka, Nigerians across the country are registering voluntarily and enthusiastically, inspired by the visible impact of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
“The claim that civil servants are being pressured to participate in our e-registration exercise is entirely false and baseless,” the statement said, adding that the allegation was part of a broader disinformation campaign allegedly orchestrated by the ADC.
The APC further accused the ADC of fabricating and circulating a fake APC membership slip, falsely suggesting that a terrorist had been registered as a member of the party.
The ruling party noted that the overwhelming public response to the exercise compelled its leadership to extend the registration deadline from January 31 to February 8, 2026, in response to popular demand.
Morka said the success of the exercise had clearly unsettled the ADC, but warned that such intimidation could not justify what he called the peddling of falsehoods to discredit the process.
“While the ADC continues to fumble and spread lies, our great party remains focused on its onward march as Africa’s standard-bearer of digital and democratic innovation,” the APC said.
The APC has continued to project the e-registration exercise as a key pillar of its reforms aimed at strengthening internal democracy and deepening citizen participation in party politics.
