Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has activated three additional laboratories to test for coronavirus disease in the country.
This was made known by the health agency on Tuesday via its verified Twitter handle.
With the addition of the three new laboratories located at Ibadan; the Oyo State capital, Akwa Ibom and Jigawa states, the total number of COVID-19 labs in Nigeria now stands at 33.
“3 additional labs have been activated for inclusion in the NCDC Molecular Lab Network in the following states Ibadan, Akwa Ibom and Jigawa,” NCDC tweeted.
“This brings the total number of labs with capacity to test for #COVID19 in Nigeria to 33 In progress: Kwara, Gombe, Ekiti, Ondo & Abia.”
Meanwhile in Edo State, five COVID-19 patients have recovered from the virus disease and have been discharged, the state Governor’ Godwin Obaseki disclosed on Tuesday.
“We have discharged 5 more #COVID19 patients from our isolation facilities, bringing the no. of recoveries to 114,” Obaseki tweeted.
“We appreciate our frontline workers, who are doing a good job in containing the spread of the virus. Kindly obey safety regulations and protect our aged population.”
There are 12,801 cases of #COVID19 in Nigeria, 4,040 discharged and 361 deaths, according to data by NCDC.
