A magistrate court sitting in Akure, the Ondo State capital has remanded the four suspected killers of the daughter of Afenifere Yoruba Socio-cultural group leader, Pa Fasoranti, Funke Olakunrin in the Owo facility of the Nigerian Correctional Service.
The four suspects, Lawal Mazaje, Adamu Adamu, Mohammed Shehu Usman and Auwal Abubakar were arrested by the Nigeria Police in connection to the murder of Olakunrin and were today, Friday arraigned before the Chief Magistrate, Victoria Bob-Manuel.
However, given that the four culprits had no legal representation, the trial judge, Bob-Manuel agreed that they be remanded in the prison custody pending legal advice from the Department of Public Prosecution.
The state’s Commissioner for Justice and Attorney-General, Adekola Olawoye said the government would ensure justice prevails at the end of the case.
“It is our duty at the Ministry of Justice to see that we keep due diligence to the prosecution of the case.” He said.
Counsel to the Olakunrin family, Sola Ebiseni said they were ready to work with government in ensuring that the deceased got justice.
The court therefore adjourned the case for further hearing until June 2020.
