President Bola Ahmed Tinubu declared that his administration is making unprecedented progress in the war against terrorism and banditry, with the military eliminating over 300 Boko Haram and bandit commanders.
In his Independence Day address, President Tinubu stated that his administration’s security efforts have restored peace to hundreds of communities in the North, allowing thousands of displaced persons to return home.
“The war against terrorism and banditry is being won,” President Tinubu declared. “Our gallant troops have eliminated over 300 Boko Haram and bandit commanders, dealing a decisive blow to these groups.”
The President attributed the success to the reforms implemented by his administration, including the retooling of the defense architecture and improved coordination among security agencies.
“Our military has been revitalized, and our security agencies are working together more effectively than ever before,” President Tinubu said.
The development is seen as a major boost to the country’s efforts to combat insurgency and insecurity, which have plagued Nigeria for over a decade.
“On the security front, I am happy to announce to you, my compatriots, that our administration is winning the war on terror and banditry.
“Our target is to eliminate all the threats of Boko Haram, banditry, kidnapping for ransom, and the scourge of all forms of violent extremism.”
President Tinubu reassured Nigerians that his administration remains committed to ending the scourge of terrorism and banditry, ensuring the safety and security of all citizens.
“We will not falter in our resolve to protect our people and our nation,” the President vowed.
