The Yobe State Police Command has announced the capture of Haruna Mohammed, a 40-year-old leader of a terrorist gang.
The command’s spokesperson, Mr. Dungus Abdulkarim, disclosed that Mohammed was apprehended by the State Intelligent Department (SID) on June 16.
According to him, Mohammed has been terrorizing towns and villages in Yobe and neighboring states through threatening phone calls, demanding money and valuables from victims.
He said one of the victim from Siminti village reported that Mohammed demanded N3 million and threatened to harm him and his family.

“In an intensive intelligent operation on June 16, detectives from the SID arrested Mohammed at Nangillam, a village in Tarmuwa Local Government Area.
“The suspect has confessed to the crime and even named other members of the syndicate who are currently being trailed,” he said.
He said the command had been tracking Mohammed for his criminal activities and finally arrested him in Nangillam village, Tarmuwa Local Government Area.
He noted that Mohammed has confessed to the crime and named other members of the syndicate, who are currently being pursued by the police.
The command urged communities to report security breaches promptly and reaffirmed its commitment to stamping out criminal activities in Yobe.
