The Defence Headquarters released the images of 8 individuals wanted in connection with the killings of soldiers in Okuama, Delta State.
The military also confirmed the release of 313 suspects held on terrorism charges to the Borno State government following a court order.
Director Defence Media Operations, Major General Edward Buba, disclosed this information during a bi-weekly press briefing in Abuja.
“The court ordered their release due to lack of evidence after completing investigations and related matters,” General Buba explained. “These cases were prosecuted by the Department of Prosecution, Federal Ministry of Justice. Consequently, they will be handed over to the Borno State Government for further action.”
General Buba noted significant progress by troops of Operation HADIN KAI during the week, following a court order from the Federal High Court in Maiduguri.
“Overall, troops of Operation HADIN KAI neutralized 52 terrorists, arrested 137, and rescued 78 kidnapped hostages within the week. Troops also recovered various weapons, including 3 M56 rifles, 40 AK47 rifles, and ammunition,” he added.
“A moment of silence was held for the soldiers who died in the line of duty on March 14th while on a peacekeeping mission in Delta State.”
