Akin Osuntokun has replaced Doyin Okupe as PeterObi’s presidential campaign Director General.
The Labour Party officially announced former presidential aide Akin Osuntokun who is also a former presidential aide as the new Director-General (DG) of its Presidential Campaign Council, on Tuesday, in Abuja.
Osuntokun comes as a replacement to Doyin Okupe who resigned lately as the director-general of the party’s campaign council.
Osuntokun had been reported by some sections of the media as the most favourable candidate to take over the apex position as the Labour Party campaign director general following Okupe’s resignation.
Before his appointment, Osuntokun was the zonal coordinator (South) of the Peter Obi campaign council. Osuntokun had also served as Managing Director of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) as well as Political Adviser to former President Olusegun Obasanjo.
He also served as Director of the Presidential campaign of the People’s Democratic Party in 2011.
Osuntokun’s appointment takes immediate effect from the moment of the announcement; he is expected to resume duty in full capacity as the Director General of the Labour Party presidential campaign organisation.
