The Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB), a pro-Biafra group, has given reasons why the Nigerian government is afraid of Biafra agitators.
This is coming weeks after the clash between some members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), another pro-Biafra group, and security operatives in Emene area of Enugu State.
In a statement on Sunday by Uchenna Madu, its leader, MASSOB said the government is afraid because Nigeria has been in perpetual strife for peace, justice and equity, a true reality it claims to speak about the nation.
The group added that it is the reason the government has resorted to repressive measures against its members.
“Today in Nigeria, true nationhood has remained stillborn. Peace, justice and equity has remained elusive in Nigeria, which still remains in perpetual strife and increasing crises since her independence,” said Madu in the statement.
“These undeniable realities are the reasons the Nigerian state is afraid of Biafra, which represents the truth they cannot legitimately counter. Biafra speaks of the truth that Nigeria knows it is guilty of; so out of weakness, jitters and fear, Nigeria resorts to repression, persecution, killing and detention of Biafran agitators.
“MASSOB shall use the anniversary to renew our avowed determination in committing our lives for the continuation of the struggle for the actualisation and restoration of the sovereign state of Biafra through non-violence.”
