Senator Adams Oshiomhole, a former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and current representative of Edo North Senatorial District, has said former President Goodluck Jonathan would suffer a decisive defeat if he chooses to contest the 2027 presidential election.
Speaking at Channels Television on Sunday, Oshiomhole argued that Jonathan’s political influence, particularly in the South-South region, has significantly expired since he left office in 2015, and the region is no longer a stronghold of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
“We will defeat him flatly if he comes out, because now the South-South is no longer PDP, so where is he going to start from?” Oshiomhole asked during the live interview.
The former Edo State governor added that only people who do not genuinely love or support Jonathan would encourage him to run for Re-election in this dispensation, warning that doing so is capable of tarnishing his reputation and hard-earned legacy which he still enjoin.
He further added that the formal President is not seen as a threat to his party, the All Progressive Congress giving that they had earlier defeated him when his party, the Peoples Democratic Party was in power and at its peak.
Oshiomhole advised that the formal President maintain his respect as a revered statesman that he is and not be moved by the Intrigue of those around him having served the Country for six Years. He equally Salute him for Conceding the 2015 election, describing that as an act which has earned him global respect and endeared him to many.
Similarly, the Lagos state Gubernatorial Candidate of the People’s Democratic Party(PDP) in the last election, Abdul- Azeez Adediran popularly known as Jandor has equally advised the formal President to ignore the call of those pushing him to Contest in the 2027 Presidential election.
Adediran Urge the President to enjoy his retirement. That the people telling him to contest against Tinubu were not being sincere to him.
