The number of top executives and cabinet members resigning their appointment in the administration of incumbent Governor, Godwin Obaseki have been on the increase as three more people tendered their resignation to the governor.
Patrick Iyoha, Director, Obaseki/Shaibu Movement and a member of the state Waste Management Board, Gabriel Oiboh, Chairman, State Post Primary Education Board and Osanyemwere Osawe, first member of the education board, announced their resignation.
In his resignation letter to Governor Obaseki dated July 28 and seen by MERIDIAN SPY, Iyoha said his reason for resigning was personal and would take effect immediately.
Similarly, in their letter dated July 28 and addressed to the Governor, Oiboh and Osawe said their resignations were due to pressure to defect to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from the All Progressives Congress (APC).
This is coming few days after three Oil and Gas Commissioners in the Edo State Oil Gas Producing Area Development Commission (EDOSOGPADEC)-Prince Emmanuel Odigie, Alhaji Aiwanu Oshiomhole and Osamwonyi Atu representing Edo Central, Edo North Senatorial districts respectively and Orhionmwon-resigned their appointment from the governor’s administration.
To seek re-election, Governor Obaseki dumped the ruling party for the PDP after being screened out of the APC primary election contest over defects in his certificate.
The Governor who is now the PDP flag bearer, will face his 2016 main rival, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, the APC candidate who now enjoys passionate support of Adams Oshiomhole, the ex-national chairman of the ruling party, in the governorship poll to be held in September.
