Presidency Denies Sacking of INEC Chairman Mahmood Yakubu
The Presidency has dismissed as false the circulating rumors that the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Mahmood Yakubu, has been removed from office.
In a statement on Monday, O’tega Ogra, Senior Special Adviser to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Digital Media and New Media, described the report as “fake news” and urged the public to disregard it.
“Disregard any fake news making the rounds about the replacement of the INEC Chairman,” Ogra said.
He added that any official announcement regarding the position of the INEC Chairman would come through the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) or other authorized government channels.
