The Chief of Defense Staff, General Christopher  Musa, has disclosed that the Nigerian military will expand Operation Safe Haven in Southern Kaduna and Birnin Gwari to combat terrorists and other criminal elements.

The CDS disclosed this yesterday when he paid a courtesy visit to Kaduna State governor, Uba Sani, at the Sir Kashim Ibrahim Government House.

The announcement comes in response to a request from Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani, who has appealed for a prolonged stay of the special forces and the expansion of the operation to other areas of the state.

In a meeting with Governor Sani, General Musa said that the military has observed some gaps in its current mode of operation, which it is working to close.
He also said that the military is changing its approach to involve both kinetic and non-kinetic methods, in order to be more effective in tackling insecurity and terrorism.
The expansion of Operation Safe Haven is a welcome development for the people of Southern Kaduna and Birnin Gwari, who have been plagued by violence and insecurity in recent years.

Responding, Governor Sani appealed for a prolonged stay of the special forces and the expansion of Operation Safe Haven in Southern Kaduna to Kafanchan, Zangon Kataf, Kaura, Sanga, Birnin Gwari and Giwa areas to restrict bandits from using the state as a refuge.
