Troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have arrested a suspected logistics supplier believed to be providing operational support to terrorist elements operating in Nigeria’s North-West region, following a successful interception along the Sokoto–Gusau Road in Zamfara State.
PRNigeria gathered that the arrest was made on June 24, 2026, during a routine military stop-and-search operation conducted as part of ongoing efforts to disrupt terrorist supply chains and enhance security across the theatre of operations.
According to military sources, the suspect was intercepted while driving a Honda Civic vehicle laden with a large quantity of military-style equipment and electronic devices suspected to be intended for delivery to terrorist groups.
A thorough search of the vehicle led to the recovery of 150 pairs of combat boots, indicating a significant logistical consignment capable of equipping a large number of armed fighters. Troops also recovered three jackknives, three electric shock devices, a tear gas canister, a military beret and a belt.
In addition to the tactical gear, security personnel confiscated several communication and electronic devices, including two Android mobile phones, an iPad and a digital wristwatch, which are expected to aid ongoing investigations into the suspect’s activities and possible links to terrorist networks.
Military authorities described the arrest as a major operational breakthrough in efforts to degrade the logistical capabilities of criminal and terrorist groups operating across Zamfara and neighbouring states. The interception underscores the critical role of intelligence-driven checkpoints and stop-and-search operations in denying terrorists access to essential supplies and equipment.
Operation FANSAN YAMMA has intensified operations across the North-West region in recent months, targeting terrorist enclaves, supply routes and support networks that sustain violent activities in the area. Security forces have consistently emphasized that disrupting logistics and supply chains remains a key component of the broader counter-terrorism campaign.
The suspect is currently in military custody and is expected to undergo further interrogation as investigators seek to identify accomplices, establish the intended recipients of the recovered items and uncover the wider network behind the attempted movement of the equipment.
Military authorities reaffirmed their commitment to sustaining offensive operations against terrorist groups and their collaborators, urging members of the public to continue providing credible information that could assist security agencies in safeguarding lives and property across the region
