Troops of Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have overrun suspected Lakurawa terrorist elements in Kebbi State, recovering rocket-propelled grenade launchers, improvised explosive devices and other weapons during a major offensive operation.

The operation, conducted by troops of Sector 2 Operation FANSAN YAMMA on June 14, 2026, took place around the Dogon Daji Dogon Dajigeneral area in Dandi Local Government Area of the state, where troops reportedly engaged the terrorists and forced them to flee after overwhelming them with superior firepower.

Military authorities said the offensive formed part of ongoing efforts to dismantle terrorist and criminal networks operating across the North-West region.

According to a statement issued on Monday by the Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, 8 Division Nigerian Army/Sector 2 Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lt. Col. Olaniyi Osoba, troops launched an aggressive follow-up pursuit along the terrorists’ withdrawal routes, leading to the recovery of a cache of heavy-calibre weapons, explosives and logistics equipment abandoned by the fleeing suspects.

Items recovered during the operation included rocket-propelled grenade launch tubes, several RPG warheads, multiple improvised explosive devices, two motorcycles allegedly used by the terrorists for mobility, battery chargers and other personal belongings.

The military said troops involved in the operation recorded no casualties.

Osoba noted that the operational success underscored the commitment of Operation FANSAN YAMMA to intensifying pressure on terrorist and bandit groups threatening peace and security in the North-West.

“The Nigerian Army remains resolute in sustaining offensive pressure on these criminal elements, denying them freedom of action and disrupting their nefarious activities to ensure the safety and security of law-abiding citizens,” he stated.

The latest operation comes amid renewed military offensives across parts of the North-West aimed at degrading the operational capacity of armed groups linked to terrorism, banditry and violent criminality.
