President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Tuesday announced that Nigeria achieved its 2025 revenue target in August, crediting ongoing economic reforms and renewed focus on the non-oil sector for the milestone.

Speaking at a meeting with founding members of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) and The Buhari Organisation, led by former Nasarawa State governor, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, the President said the bulk of the revenue came from non-oil sources, a shift he described as crucial for long-term stability.

“The economy is now stabilised. Nobody is trading pieces of paper for foreign exchange anymore. The economy is now predictable. You do not need to know the CBN Governor, Yemi Cardoso, to obtain foreign exchange or import goods,” Tinubu said.

He assured Nigerians that the Renewed Hope Agenda remained firmly anchored on building critical infrastructure, improving healthcare, ensuring food sovereignty, and strengthening national security.

Outlining next steps, Tinubu revealed that agricultural mechanisation centres will be established in all regions of the country to expand cultivation, enhance harvests, and train young Nigerians.

“We are going to have trainees. That programme is our path to food sovereignty,” he said.

The President also pledged to sustain and immortalise the legacies of former President Muhammadu Buhari with the establishment of a Buhari House and promised greater inclusion of CPC members in his administration.

Reflecting on his political journey with the CPC, Tinubu described it as “a sweet memory” and thanked the group for their loyalty. “When I see people like you, I am determined to work harder,” he told the delegation.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, lauded Tinubu for his “statesmanship and magnanimity” towards Katsina State and his inclusive leadership.

On his part, Al-Makura expressed appreciation to the President for his role during the funeral of former President Buhari, noting that Tinubu’s presence and leadership provided comfort. He pledged unwavering support for the administration.

“This is to assure you that we believe in your administration, and that will be our focus and commitment to ensure the success of our party and your ultimate victory in the 2027 elections,” Al-Makura stated.
