Popular Nollywood actress Ronke Ojo, widely known as Ronke Oshodi-Oke, has defended her decision to accept money in support of political figures, saying she does so to earn a living.
The actress made the remarks during an interview with African A-List while speaking about Nigerian politics and whether she would accept payment to endorse or support a politician.
Oshodi-Oke described Nigerian politics as “dirty” and maintained that she was not attempting to influence people’s voting choices.
She, however, urged members of the public not to insult or criticise her if they see her associating with politicians, explaining that such involvement could simply be a means of putting food on the table.
“If you see me behind any politician, anybody, just see it as if she is looking for something to put food on the table,” she said.
Her comments have drawn attention to the growing debate around celebrities, political endorsements and paid support for political figures in Nigeria.
