The Presidency has called for legal action against social media influencer Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VDM, over the circulation of an alleged fake audio purportedly linked to President Bola Tinubu.

Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, said on Wednesday that VDM’s spread of the content amounted to a serious abuse of digital platforms.

Reacting to the controversy on X, Onanuga wrote:

“This VDM needs to face the weight of the law for being the conveyor and disseminator of a fake audio of President Tinubu. This is a clear case of an egregious abuse of the social media platform.”

Onanuga’s remarks followed a post by X user Aneex, who dismissed the recording as “cheap propaganda” and accused VDM of exploiting public sentiment to spread misleading information. Aneex also questioned claims that the voice in the audio belonged to the President.
