Hundreds of teenagers and young adults in Ogun State have pledged to reject cultism, drug abuse, cybercrime and other social vices following a youth sensitisation programme organised by the Ogun State Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices, POCACOV.
The engagement was held during the Royal Ambassador Ogun Baptist Conference, Ephphatha 2026, as part of efforts to educate young people on the dangers of criminal activities and negative social influences.
The programme was conducted by the Ogun State POCACOV team under the leadership of Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, with the State Coordinator, ASP Oluborode Opeyemi, leading the sensitisation activities.
During the interactive sessions, police officers highlighted the long-term dangers associated with cultism, gang violence, substance abuse, cybercrime and other social vices.
The participants were also educated on how involvement in such activities could destroy promising futures, compromise personal safety and undermine peace in schools and communities.
The sensitisation programme emphasised self-discipline, positive peer influence and personal accountability, with police officers urging the youths to become responsible stakeholders in building safer communities.
The POCACOV team further encouraged the young participants to make positive choices and demonstrate strong character as a means of resisting criminal influences and peer pressure.
The engagement ended with the participating youths pledging to uphold high moral standards, reject illicit activities and serve as anti-vice ambassadors within their schools and communities.
The Ogun State POCACOV reaffirmed its commitment to sustained community policing and youth-focused preventive programmes aimed at tackling social vices across the state.
