A lawyer and entrepreneur, Hafsat Sahabi Dange, has distanced herself from an organisation under investigation over allegations that it operated as an unauthorised federal agency.
Dange, who was listed as the Sokoto coordinator of the National Brands Development and Made-in-Nigeria Special Project Office, said she was only nominated for the position in 2025 but never assumed the role or exercised any governmental authority.
She explained that after receiving the nomination letter, she sought clarification from the Sokoto State Government and was subsequently informed that the state government did not recognise her nomination. She therefore said she did not take up the position.
Dange also denied any financial or operational involvement with the organisation, saying she did not collect money, administer public funds, enter contracts, issue licences, recruit personnel or otherwise act on behalf of the project.
Her clarification comes amid an ICPC investigation into the organisation, which allegedly presented itself as a federal government project under the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation. The commission has questioned the organisation’s authorisation and activities.
