The members of Kebbi State Caucus in the National Assembly have accused former minister of Justice, Mr Abubakar Malami of undermining the peace, stability and progress of the state.

On Sept.10, Malami petitioned the National Security Adviser, the Department of State Services and the Inspector General of Police over what he called a plot to destabilise Kebbi State.

He accused Gov.  Mohammed Idris and his allies of masterminding the attacks, describing the development as “A direct threat to Nigeria’s sovereignty and internal stability.”

But the Senator representing Kebbi Central, Sen.Adamu Aliero told journalists in Abuja that Malami ‘s petition was malicious and frivolous.

Aliero reaffirmed the caucus’ support for Gov Idris on his tireless efforts to maintain law and order in the State.

“The attention of the Kebbi State APC National Assembly Caucus has been drawn to a petition authored by the former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami SAN, dated Sept.10, 2025.

“In which he alleged that His Excellency, Comrade Dr  Idris (Kauran Gwandu), Governor of Kebbi State and other political actors  of involvement in the Importation of political thugs, foreign mercenaries and clandestine arms deals in the state.

“We wish to categorically state that these allegations are false, unfounded and politically motivated.

“They represent a desperate attempt by Mr Malami, now leader of an imaginary opposition party in Kebbi, to undermine the peace, progress and stability that our people currently enjoy under the leadership of Gov. Idris,” he said.

Aliero explained that the Kebbi State Government, nor the APC family, had not been involved in clandestine activities or linked with terrorist groups.

According to him, Kebbi remains one of the most peaceful states in Nigeria today, owing to deliberate investments in security, collaboration with security agencies and the overwhelming support of our patriotic citizens.

Aliero commended the state governor for demonstrating great capacity and performance in the security sector which is responsible for the peace that the state has enjoyed compared to other states.

Aliero, who called on Nigerians to see Malami’s petition for what it truly is, said it was a smear campaign intended to incite fear and distract from his dwindling political relevance.

The caucus further urged security agencies to disregard the petition, but to focus their efforts on genuine threats to national security and not be drawn into partisan theatrics.

On his part, the Senator representing Kebbi South, Sen.Garuba Maidoki who described APC as a peaceful party, said that the chairman of INEC actually has warned that political campaign has not started.

Maidoki who described Malami’s outburst as a campaign style in order to provoke the people, challenged him to produce evidence of his allegations.

“He said he has evidence. We challenge him to produce it, that our party is importing weapons. We are not a dangerous people.

“We do not support any dangerous activity towards Nigeria. We do not support terrorism in whatever form and manner. And we are against it. We are going to fight it.”

Sen.Maidoki lauded President Bola Tinubu’s efforts in the fight against insecurity, saying the President has done so well in the fight against banditry today.

According to him, before we came in office, in my own constituency, we have more than 100 villages that have been abandoned and evacuated.

“But to the glory of God today, all the residents of these villages have gone back. That is not to say we don’t have challenge, but the situation is far better now.

“We have experiencing progress and we are expecting more progress. We will not be associated with any banditry. We reject that call. And we ask anyone alleging that to produce  evidence

  • Jilli Airstrike: Supporters Of Terrorists Will Be Treated As Bandits, Defence Minister Warns Defence Minister Christopher Musa has warned that supporters of terrorists would be treated as criminals. He said this on Monday as he reacted to the airstrike carried out by the Nigerian Air Force airstrike in Jilli, Borno State, over the weekend. Speaking after an expanded security meeting in Kaduna with the state governor and heads of security agencies, Musa said the operation sends a clear message to those collaborating with terrorist groups. He stressed that anyone found supporting insurgents would face the same consequences as the perpetrators. “A friend of a thief is a thief,” he said, warning civilians against associating with or providing any form of assistance to terrorists. Musa urged residents to steer clear of areas known to be used by insurgents, noting that proximity or collaboration could have grave consequences. The airstrike, carried out near the village of Jilli in Gubio Local Government Area, targeted what the military described as an ISWAP enclave and logistics hub. According to the Nigerian Air Force, the operation was intelligence-driven and aimed at neutralising terror elements and destroying their equipment. However, reports have emerged alleging that the strike may have affected a weekly market in the area, with civilians, including cross-border traders, reportedly among casualties. Musa, however, maintained that the strike should serve as a strong warning to those aiding insurgent activities, reaffirming the military’s resolve to intensify operations against terrorist networks. Air Component of Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI, conducted a precision air strike on a known terrorist enclave and logistics hub located near the abandoned village of Jilli in Gubio Local Government Area of Borno State. Giving an update on the airstrike, the Nigerian Army in a post on its official X handle said, “The successful strike, executed on 11 April 2026, followed sustained intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance missions over the Bindul–Jilli axis, an area long identified as a major terrorist movement corridor and convergence point for Islamic State West Africa Province terrorists and their collaborators.”
