President Muhammadu Buhari’s media aide, Femi Adesina has denied claims that Nigerians with Bank Verification Number BVN will be given N30,000 as relief fund to cushion the effect of the deadly coronavirus pandemic.

There were viral reports on Friday that Adesina issued a statement stating that the N30,000 was to help Nigerians “stock up their home during the stay-at-home order by the government.”

The media aide however issued a disclaimer via its twitter handle on Saturday that he did not say so and that Nigerians should disregard the information.

He wrote: “Fake news peddlers have concocted a statement, purportedly issued by me, saying FG will pay N30,000 to each Nigerian with BVN, to help them stock up before an impending national lockdown. Not me. The so-called statement is hereby disclaimed.”
