In response to escalating security concerns, the Kaduna State Security Council, chaired by Governor Uba Sani, has imposed a 24-hour curfew on the metropolitan areas of Kaduna and Zaria.

This decisive action followed a thorough assessment of the current security situation across the state.

The decision was announced by Samuel Aruwan, the Acting Commissioner for the Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs.

In a formal statement, Aruwan disclosed that recent protests in the region have been exploited by criminal elements.

These individuals have engaged in looting shops and causing extensive damage to both private and public property.

“The peaceful protest has been compromised, with criminals seizing the opportunity to commit acts of vandalism and theft,” Aruwan stated.

“Given this turn of events, the Security Council has unanimously decided to impose a 24-hour curfew on Kaduna and Zaria metropolises and their surrounding areas.”

The curfew, which takes immediate effect, is aimed at restoring order and preventing further lawlessness. Aruwan emphasized the importance of public cooperation during this period, urging all citizens to stay indoors and comply with the curfew restrictions. He assured the public that security forces are fully mobilized and are working diligently to maintain peace and protect lives and property.

The government has pledged to continue monitoring the situation closely.

The curfew will be reviewed regularly, and any necessary adjustments will be made based on the evolving security dynamics.

The authorities have appealed to the public for patience and understanding as they work to resolve the situation and ensure the safety of all residents.
