Ganduje Sets Agenda for Okpebholo as Edo Governor-Elect

National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has called on the newly elected Governor of Edo State, Monday Okpebholo, to embrace an active and forward-thinking approach to governance.

Ganduje made the statement during Okpebholo’s visit to the APC secretariat in Abuja on Thursday.

The APC, National Chairman emphasized the importance of progressive leadership, urging the governor-elect to focus on delivering his campaign promises rather than dwelling on the actions of previous administrations.

“Think forward and be an action governor. During the campaign, you were an action candidate, and now you are an action governor. We believe it. We believe you will succeed and make the people of our winning state proud,” Ganduje stated, encouraging Okpebholo to prioritize impactful governance.

Reaffirming the party’s support, Ganduje assured Okpebholo that the APC’s infrastructure—from the ward level to the state level—would be mobilized to serve the people effectively.

“The party is ready to assist you in any way,” he added, emphasizing the APC’s commitment to helping the new administration build a solid foundation focused on public welfare and unity.

In his response, Okpebholo expressed profound gratitude to both Ganduje and President Bola Tinubu for their unwavering support during the election campaign.

He noted Ganduje’s hands-on involvement, recalling how the chairman’s presence in Edo State strengthened morale and contributed to a peaceful election day.

“There was absolute peace in Edo State. Before now, there was this kind of boast that people would die, but on election day, nobody died,” Okpebholo remarked, celebrating the victory as a “new dawn” for the state.

When asked about the possibility of investigating the former administration of Governor Godwin Obaseki, Okpebholo responded cautiously.

He said, “For me, I don’t know what it is. I’ve not seen any reports. By the time I see that, then I will make a decision. I will also consult our party to know the way forward. Let’s get there first.”
