The Federal Government has directed all ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) to stop awarding contracts without secured funding, as part of efforts to reduce the growing number of abandoned projects across the country.
The directive is aimed at strengthening fiscal discipline, improving project execution and ensuring that only adequately funded projects are approved for implementation.
Government officials said the measure will help curb waste, enhance accountability and ensure public funds are utilised more efficiently while reducing the burden of incomplete infrastructure projects.
The policy forms part of broader reforms designed to improve public sector procurement and deliver infrastructure projects on schedule.
