Emirates Airlines has announced its suspension of passenger flights until further notice effective from Wednesday March 25 due to the impact of the deadly coronavirus.

The suspension was announced on Sunday via its official twitter handle @emirates, noting that it will however continue its cargo services.

The airline apologised for the travel disruption and inconvenience its decision would cause, adding that it will reinstate its passenger services as soon as feasible.

The statement reads: “Today we made the decision to temporarily suspend all passenger flights by 25 March 2020. SkyCargo operations will continue.

“This painful but pragmatic move will help Emirates Group preserve business viability and secure jobs worldwide, avoiding cuts.

“We deeply apologise to our customers for the travel disruptions and inconvenience caused. We are committed to minimise impact to our customers.

“We will continue to watch the situation closely, and will reinstate our passenger services as soon as feasible.

“These are unprecedented times for the airline and travel industry, but we will get through it with your support.”
