Veteran journalist and Eagle Online founder and managing editor Dotun Oladipo has died at the age of 56. He reportedly died on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, after suddenly falling ill at his office in Lagos.
Oladipo reportedly sought medical attention after becoming unwell and later died at a hospital. His death was confirmed by the Guild of Corporate Online Publishers (GOCOP), where he previously served as president.
The veteran journalist had spent more than 28 years in journalism and previously worked as a Politics Editor with PUNCH before founding Eagle Online.
His sudden death has sparked an outpouring of grief across Nigeria’s media community, with colleagues and industry figures mourning a journalist who played a significant role in the country’s digital media landscape.
