Just 24 hours after his appointment, Major General Olufemi Olatubosun Oluyede, the acting Chief of Army Staff (COAS), has held a closed-door meeting on Thursday with the National Security Adviser (NSA), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, and the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Gwabin Musa,
The high-level security discussion took place at the Office of the National Security Adviser to the President (ONSA).
This follows President Bola Tinubu’s announcement on Wednesday, appointing Oluyede as the acting Chief of Army Staff, pending the return of the substantive COAS, Lt. General Taoreed Lagbaja, who is currently receiving medical treatment abroad.
While details of the meeting remain undisclosed, sources told PRNigeria that the discussion focused on national security issues.
Major General Oluyede is expected to formally assume his duties today at the Defence Headquarters in Abuja.
