President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the renewal of the tenure of Mr. Benjamin Akabueze as Director-General of the Budget Office of the Federation.
The presidency disclosed this on Sunday via its verified Twitter handle, noting that the Budget Office is currently undergoing several reforms under the leadership of Akabueze, towards improving its effectiveness and efficiency.
The tweet reads: “President @MBuhari has approved the renewal of the tenure of Mr. Benjamin Akabueze as Director-General of the Budget Office of the Federation. The Budget Office is currently undergoing several reforms under the leadership of Akabueze, towards improving effectiveness & efficiency.”
Akabueze, an economist, was first appointed as the DG of the Budget Office of the Federation in June, 2016, after previously serving as the Special Adviser to the President on Planning.
He took over from Mr. Tijani Muhammed Abdullahi who then served as Special Adviser to the President on Planning.
According to Special Adviser to the president on media and publicity, Femi Adesina, who made the announcement of the redeployment of the two public officials, he said it was “part of an ongoing exercise aimed at further repositioning the Ministry to effectively deliver on its core mandate.”
