The Delta State Government has announced the discharged of two coronavirus patients receiving treatment in its isolation centre.

With this announcement, made by the Governor, Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa via his Twitter handle on Tuesday, only three active cases are left in the state while one death has been recorded, out of the six cases confirmed so far.

Okowa further urged the citizens to continue to adhere to the precautionary measures and isolation directives in order to prevent the further spread of the virus.

He tweeted: “Dear Deltans: It is my pleasure to announce the discharge of two of the five #COVID19 patients in our state.

“As we continue to monitor the recovery process of the other three active cases, I ask that you all continue to adhere to the precautionary measures and isolation directives we have put in place. Together, we will beat this.”

Earlier today, Meridian Spy reported that the governor announced the compulsory use of face masks in public places as well as other guidelines to halt the spread of the disease while allowing a partial relaxing of some restriction imposed in the state.

Among the new guidelines were the decision to permit burial and wedding ceremony with an attendance of not more than 50 persons while maintaining the social distancing rules of 6ft away from each other, effective from Thursday, 30th April.

All conferences, sporting activities, gathering of people in convention/event centres, sports fields, public/open spaces, as well as recreational and cultural/communal activities’ were banned until Sunday, 31st May.
