Shehu Sani, a former senator representing Kaduna Central, has outlined ways government can secure schools in the north.
The attack and subsequent rescue of the 344 students of Government Science Secondary School, Kankara in Katsina State, had sparked the call for government to provide adequate security for schools, especially in the Northern part of the country that has suffered series of insurgent attacks.
In a Twitter post on Saturday, Sani recommended the abolishment of boarding schools in rural areas of the region.
“How to protect Schools in Northern Nigeria; Abolish boarding schools in rural areas, Drill students & Teachers on emergency security measures, Create a special security unit for schools, Build perimeter walls around schools, Install CCTV & alarm systems in schools, Intensify prayers,” he tweeted.
