Police in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have identified, arrested and taken into custody a police inspector who, in a viral video, was shown to be drunk at CBN Junction, in Abuja.

Bala Ciroma, FCT Commissioner of Police (CP), also ordered that the Police officer be subjected to psychological and medical evaluation, preparatory to the commencement of disciplinary actions against him.

Yusuf Mariam, Spokesperson of the FCT Police Commissioner, who disclosed this in a statement on Sunday, stressed that “the behaviour portrayed by the Policeman in the video does not depict the standard discipline of the Nigeria Police Force”.

Mariam however, urged residents to remain calm, while reiterating the Command’s “unflinching commitment to the protection of lives and property in the Federal Capital Territory”
