Sunday Dare, Minister of Youths and Sports, has urged Azeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley, and other Nigerian youths not to embark on the planned protest today Tuesday, against the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).
Due to the menace caused by the SARS operatives especially against youths in the country, the #ENDSARS movement had gathered momentum on social media.
Yesterday, Naira Marley tweeted that he will lead a march today to demand that the SARS operatives be completely disbanded, despite the recent ban announced by Mohammed Adamu, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP).
“So 9am tomorrow we move 2nd toll gate Peaceful protest No vandalism, no fights and no stealing,” the singer tweeted on Monday.
But, responding to the tweet, Dare urged them to call off the protest, noting that the issue is already a concern to the government at the highest level and it is been addressed.
“I urge you and other youth not to embark upon any protest. Your grievances are being addressed at the highest level of government. As the Minister in charge of youth I know this is an issue that must be tackled. Government is doing just that.” the Minister tweeted.
