More bandits and cattle rustlers have been neutralized as the Nigerian troops of Operation KATSINA under Operation ACCORD continue its anti-banditry operations in the North West of the country.
In a statement on Sunday, the Coordinator, Defence Media Operations, Maj. Gen. John Enenche disclosed that, during its clearance operations against bandits and cattle rustlers in parts of Zamfara, troops of Operation KATSINA under Operation ACCORD on Friday intercepted a Bandits’ Gun-runner and Logistics supplier.
496 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition and one Bajaj Motorcycle were recovered from the bandits during the operation in Mararraba Maigora in Faskari LGA.
“Similarly, in a cordon and search Operation at Yauyau and Zandam villages troops neutralized 3 Bandits and captured 4,” Enenche further revealed.
“Items recovered include 7 Dane guns, 3 mobile phones and two Motorcycles. Those captured are in custody for interrogations.”
The defence media coordinator also revealed that, on Saturday, troops engaged fleeing bandits along Dunya- Dangeza road and recovered 2 Dane guns and 4 Motorcycles.
“Additionally, troops destroyed the Daban Jabi camp of a notorious Bandit Leader known as Dan Jangeru,” he stated.
“Also at Warnu village 2 bandits were neutralized while others escaped with gunshot wounds, one AK 47 rifle was recovered in the process.”
MERIDIAN SPY reported Saturday, 70 armed bandits and cattle rustlers were eliminated by the newly-launched troops of Operation Accord in Kachia Forest in Kaduna State.
Enenche said the armed bandits were successfully wiped out, following a combined ground and air offensive conducted by troops of Operation Thunder Strike, under Operation Accord, in conjunction with troops of 312 Artillery Regiment and local Vigilantes in the area.
“After the air interdiction, 70 bandits were confirmed killed by human intelligence while others escaped with injuries while exploitation operation is still being carried out by the troops in the forest,” he said.
He further urged people in the area, as a matter of security concern, to report those with sudden and suspicious injuries to the security forces. “This is to ensure that the escapees are mopped up,” he said.
