The Edo State Police Command announced the tragic death of a Police Inspector who
was murdered in Auchi, in Edo State by hoodlums while enforcing the coronavirus dusk-to-dawn curfew in the state.
The Police Inspector, Felix Egbon and his colleagues from Auchi Divisional Police Headquarters were on enforcement duties on Friday when the hoodlums ambushed and attacked them
with guns and other harmful weapons.
During the attack, Inspector Egbon was shot on his neck. The Police said that he was
rushed to a General Hospital in Auchi where he later died.
“The hoodlums are still on the run but it is known that they emerged from the bush at Iyetse Quarters, Auchi,” according to the state’s police spokesman, DSP Chidi Nwabuzor.
He added that the Commissioner of Police in the State, CP Lawan Jimeta, has ordered a
full-scale investigation into the gruesome murder of the Police Inspector and is soliciting
help from other sister agencies, vigilance group, and hunters to fish out the perpetrators.
The Commissioner of Police has also appealed to traditional rulers, village heads and
youth leaders to provide information that would aid in arresting the hoodlums.
