BREAKING: COVID-19 Cases In Nigeria Near 2,000, As 204 New Infections Are Recorded




Amid plans by the federal government to relax lockdown and partially reopen the economy, Nigeria’s coronavirus cases has edged closer to 2,000 as 204 new infections were confirmed; the highest daily record in the country so far.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control NCDC broke the news on Thursday night via its verified Twitter handle.

Of the 204 new cases, Kano recorded the highest with 80 new infections, followed by Lagos with 45, 12 in Gombe, nine in Bauchi and Sokoto, seven in Borno and Edo, six in Rivers and Ogun, four in Abuja, Akwa Ibom and Bayelsa, three in Kaduna, two in Oyo, Delta and Nasarawa and one each in Ondo and Kebbi.

Total deaths and discharged cases also rose to 58 and 319 respectively.

NCDC tweeted: “204 new cases of #COVID19 reported; 80-Kano 45-Lagos 12-Gombe 9-Bauchi 9-Sokoto 7-Borno 7-Edo 6-Rivers 6-Ogun 4-FCT 4-Akwa Ibom 4-Bayelsa 3-Kaduna 2-Oyo 2-Delta 2-Nasarawa 1-Ondo 1-Kebbi.

“11:50pm 30th April- 1932 confirmed cases of #COVID19 in Nigeria Discharged: 319 Deaths: 58.

“As at April 30 2020, 35 states and the FCT have recorded at least one confirmed case of #COVID19 71% of all cases are from three states.”
