The Delta State coronavirus task force team has arrested a patient who has been on the run, after escaping the state’s Isolation and Treatment Centre, in Enugu.
The Delta COVID-19 patient who was declared wanted, in an executive order issued by the state governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, was caught in Enugu and returned back to the state.
The arrest of the patient was confirmed by the Enugu State Commissioner for Health, Obi Ikechukwu.
“Following the executive order from the the governor the state rapid response team/taskforce on COVID-19 and the state’s security apparatus swung to action,” Ikechukwu stated.
“And in a coordinated sequence of events with the Delta State COVID 19 taskforce, moved swiftly yesterday, detected, contained and returned a confirmed COVID-19 case who had escaped from an Isolation and Treatment Centre in Delta State to Enugu.
“Consequently, contact tracing and decontamination has commenced immediately.”
He further stated, “For record purposes, total cases ever detected in Enugu State remains 8, with 6 active cases receiving treatment”.
Delta State recorded no new case, out of the 2,802 confirmed cases of #COVID19 in Nigeria as released by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC. However the state has a total of 17 confirmed cases of the virus.
