Ten coronavirus patients who have been receiving treatments in Lagos and Oyo States have been discharged after testing negative twice for the disease.

Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and his Oyo counterparts, Seyi Makinde, broke the news in separate tweets on Friday.

In Lagos, seven patients, three females and four males, were released from the Infectious Disease Hospital, at Yaba, to reconnect with their community, bringing the total number of discharged cases in the state to 46, governor Babajide revealed.

The Lagos governor tweeted: “Dear Lagosians, I bring you more good news from our Infectious Disease Hospital, Yaba. Today, 7 more patients; 3 females and 4 males were discharged to reconnect with the community after a full recovery and having tested negative twice consecutively for #COVID19.

“This brings to 46, the number of patients successfully managed and discharged from our Yaba facility. So far, we have had 100 percent recovery from the #COVID19 cases we have admitted and managed at our isolation facilities.

“While we celebrate our successes, let us note that #SocialDistancing is important & non negotiable in the war against #COVID19. Stay at home, observe good personal hygiene and adhere strictly to advice from our health experts. Together, a #COVID19 free Lagos is possible.

In Oyo State, three COVID-19 patients were also released after testing negative twice for the disease, bringing the total number of discharged in the state to five, Makinde revealed.

The Oyo governor’s tweet reads: “Yesterday, three confirmed COVID-19 patients were discharged after receiving their second negative test results. This brings the number of discharged cases in Oyo State to five. So, there are currently six active cases.

“All measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in Oyo State, remain in place. These include the dusk to dawn curfew (7 PM to 6 AM); no gatherings of more than ten people to be held anywhere in the state and the closure of all markets except those selling perishable food items.

“Also, inter-state transportation into and out of the state remains suspended except vehicles carrying food items, medical, pharmaceutical and petroleum products.”

As of April 9, 2020, 288 confirmed COVID-19 cases have been recorded in Nigeria with more than 50 recoveries and seven deaths.
