The Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs has announced that Ramadan will begin tomorrow Friday, April 24.
The Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar who is the President of the NSCIA, made the announcement on Thursday.
He confirmed that the new moon was sighted on Thursday, which signals the commencement of the Ramadan; a period when muslims across the country are obligated to fast and pray from dusk to dawn.
Also during the period, they are expected to abstain from eating, drinking and smoking from dawn to sunset.
