The Nigerian military has destroyed a shrine belonging to the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and the Eastern Security Network (ESN) in Imo State.
The military also accused the group of cannibalism and other atrocities.
Major General Edward Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations, made the disclosure on Thursday at biweekly Medua briefing in Abuja.
Buba said that troops recently invaded the IPOB/ESN safe haven in Aku Forest, Okigwe Local Government Area of Imo State, and found unspeakable and unprintable activities going on in the camp.
“These extremists are cannibals feasting on fellow humans and slaughtering them for other devilish acts,” he said.
Buba also revealed that the military found human skulls and a casket in the shrine.
He said the military has identified several criminal safe havens across the country and is working to destroy them and dismantle the terrorists and criminals.
“The armed forces is constantly restrategizing and modifying its operations to overcome the changes in tactics of the extremist operating across the country.
Accordingly, the ongoing counter terrorism and counter insurgency operations are designed to ensure that uncertainty is replaced with certainty,” he said.
