The All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced the name of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, as a member of its campaign council for the Bayelsa governorship election scheduled for November 11.
Wike’s name is number six on the 123-member APC Campaign Council released on Tuesday evening and signed by the National Organising Secretary of the party, Suleiman Muhammad Argungu.
This is barely three weeks after POLITICS DIGEST reported that the former Rivers state governor’s name was on the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Campaign Council for the same gubernatorial election.
Wike who is a card-carrying member of the PDP, has dispelled several rumours on his planned defection to the APC.
The National Chairman of APC, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, who approved the composition of the Council, said its primary purpose is to ensure the triumph of the party.
The Campaign Council will be chaired by Governor Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe state.
