The Senator-elect for Southern Borno, Ali Mohammed Ali Ndume, has accused some senators and reps of using dollars to lobby for various leadership positions in the 10th National Assembly.
He revealed this in an interview with BBC Hausa.
Speaking in Hausa, Ndume confessed that he would have joined the power tussle in the senate if he were rich noting that he will win because of his legislative experience.
“The leadership position in the National Assembly has been monetized by some senators and reps, and they have started bribing members of the senate with dollars seeking their support, votes, and endorsement.”
The acclaimed experienced senator said that the rich politicians are likely to win an election in Nigeria because of the overwhelming transactional politics going on in the polity.
“Money politics has dominated Nigeria’s political ecosystems so much so that even the poor have succumbed to it by commercializing their votes during elections.”
While condemning the act, the 3rd term senator said that the authorities responsible for sanitizing the political ecosystems in the country were also bought, explaining that that is why transitional politics is thriving in the open even among senators.
