The social media space has been inundated with rumors that Nyesom Wike, Minister of the FCT, is critically ill. Some media reports claim that he had been flown to France for immediate medical attention. Consequently, many Nigerians have expressed glee over the news, while some even wish for his death.
For the average Nigerian on social media, Nyesom Wike represents a reasonable part of the leadership failures and hardship plaguing the country currently.
Similarly, his affiliation with President Tinubu, who remains largely unpopular among Nigerian youths, further aggravates issues for him.
While I strongly agree that the Minister is part of the problems we face as a country, I personally do not support the idea of wishing him ill-health or death. I will never wish anyone death. God gives life and has the sole right to take it whenever He pleases.
Good health is a rare privilege from God, one for which we should always be grateful. No one has complete control over their health; sickness and death are two realities that should humble all of us.They can befall anyone at any time, regardless of how careful one is.
In 2015, when Muhammadu Buhari emerged as president, many wished him death. But I differed.
The same scenario is playing out with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as many wish for his death, hoping it would mark the end of Nigeria’s problems.
Again, I disagree! I wish the President sound health and a long life, even though I strongly believe he is the worst Nigerian president in recent history.
Finally, Minister Nyesom Wike should take stock of his life, and evaluate his actions, inactions, and desperation to cling to power by proxy while allegedly influencing the judiciary.
If, as a leader, you have so many people wishing you evil or death, it is a sign that something profoundly wrong; and a call to look inward and make amends.
While I condemn the wishes of death on the Minister, I understand the pain, frustration, and disappointment of Nigerians.
It’s real and prevailing. Even our so called leaders would not wish for their own families to endure the level of suffering that many Nigerians are currently facing. Our leaders must do better, and repent from their wickedness against the masses.
Or else be ready for the imminent storm of revolution gathering ahead of us all!
