The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has revoked land allocations belonging to former President Muhammadu Buhari, House of Representatives Speaker Tajudeen Abbas, and Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume, among others, for non-payment of the Certificate of Occupancy (C of O) fees.
Also affected by the revocation are 759 other prominent figures and organizations in Maitama II, Abuja. This action was disclosed in a publication by the FCT Administration, signed by Lere Olayinka, the Special Adviser to the FCT Minister, and made available to The MeridianSpy.
In a separate announcement, Wike warned additional landholders, including the Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Kingsley Chinda; former Senate Presidents, Iyorchia Ayu and Ameh Ebute; and Senate Chief Whip, Tahir Monguno, among others.
A total of 610 individuals and organizations were given a two-week ultimatum to pay outstanding fees or face the revocation of their land allocations.
The revocation comes months after the minister repeatedly urged residents, particularly those in upscale areas of the FCT, to settle outstanding payments to the FCT Administration. Wike had earlier warned that failure to comply would result in the loss of their land rights.
