The Yobe State Police Command says it has arrested a 23-year-old Saminu Garba over alleged transformer cable vandalism at State Low-Cost in Damaturu.
DSP Dungus Abdulkarim, Spokesman of the command, stated this in a statement in Damaturu on Saturday.
He said personnel of the command arrested Garba in possession of the cable in the area on May 16, when they became suspicious of him.
Abdulkarim said investigation revealed that Garba and two members of his syndicate, Audu Ismail and Abba Mohammed, were allegedly involved in several acts of transformer vandalism in Damaturu and its environs.
On 16 May 2024, at about 1300hrs personnel, of C Divisional Police Headquarters, intercepted One Saminu Garba aged, 23 years old, of Maiduguri Borno State.
“ The suspect was arrested among two other syndicate members who evaded arrest and fled,” the spokesman said.
According to him, the police are on the trail of Isamail and Mohammed who are still at large.
He said that the state Police Commissioner, Garba Ahmed, had warned vandals to repent and desist from the act or face the wrath of the law.
