2024 MOBO Awards: Asake Defeats Davido, Tyla, Others to Win Best African Act

Nigerian singer Ahmed Ololade, popularly known as Asake, has won the Best African Artist of the Year at the 2024 Music Of Black Origin ( MOBO) Awards held in Sheffield, United Kingdom, on Wednesday night.

The ‘Mr Money’ crooner defeated his compatriots Davido, Ayra Starr, Rema, Grammy-winning South African singer, Tyla and others to clinch the award.

 

Asake now joins 2Baba, D’Banj, Wizkid, Davido and Burna Boy on the list of Nigerians who have won Best African Act at the MOBO Awards.

Meanwhile, another Nigerian singer, Limoblaze won the Best Gospel Act at the award ceremony.

Similarly, British-Nigerian rapper, Tunde won the Best New Artist award.

British rapper, Central Cee topped the winners’ chart with two awards: Best Male Act and Song of the Year for ‘Sprinter’ with British-Nigerian rapper, Dave.

Drake and 21 Savage were the joint winners of the Best International Act award while Soul II Soul was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award.
