President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has received flak for his excessively large cabinet.
The Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms,On Tuesday, was established by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The committee was set up State House in Abuja hosted the inauguration event.
The group was established by the president, according to a statement released on Monday, July 7 by Dele Alake, Special Adviser to the President on Special Duties, Communications, and Strategy.
Alake said that the committee would be chaired by Fiscal Policy Partner and Africa Tax Leader at PriceWaterhouseCoopers, Taiwo Oyedele.
The committee is made up of experts from both the private and public sectors.
The committee will be responsible for various aspects of tax law reforms, fiscal policy design and coordination, harmonization of taxes, and revenue administration.
Special Adviser to the President on Revenue, Adelabu Adedeji, stated that the President recognised how important a sound fiscal policy environment and an effective taxation system are for the functioning of the government and the economy.
Adedeji said the committee will not only advise the government on necessary reforms but will also drive the implementation of such recommendations in support of the comprehensive fiscal policy and tax reform agenda of the current administration.
