Corps Members have been warned to obey the customs and traditions of their host communities and avoid any action that may put them on collision against each other throughout their service year.

This advice was given by the NYSC Director General, Brigadier General Yusha’u Dogara Ahmed while addressing Corps Members during his visit to Adamawa State Orientation Camp in Damare, Girei Local Government Area of the State.

In the same vein, the Director General also visited their colleagues at Taraba State Orientation Camp in Simbre.

While in both camps, he advised the Corps Members to study their new environments after the Orientation Course, learn and understand their culture and traditions and also try to inculcate new values.

General Ahmed also urged them to ensure personal security and desist from any adventure that may put their lives at risk.

He disclosed that improper dressing in NYSC uniforms and unauthorized journeys during the service year attracts sanctions as stipulated in the NYSC Byelaws.

The Director General warned against the misuse of social media adding that they should use it “for the promotion of national unity and integration, self development and other meaningful activities.

Avoid drugs, illegal gathering and whether in camp or out of camp, you must dress according to NYSC dress code”.

General Ahmed, whose visit coincided with SAED exhibition in both camps enjoined the Corps Members to embrace the opportunities of NYSC Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development programme to become job creators.

NYSC Adamawa State Coordinator, Mr Jingi Dennis stated that all the registered 1,139 Corps Members have adjusted to camp life and ready to contribute to the development of their host communities.

Similarly, in Taraba camp, the State Coordinator, Mr Tony Nzoka informed General Ahmed that a total of 1,141 Corps Members comprising 601 males and 540 males have been exhibiting great zeal by participating in all camp activities.
