Shehu Sani, a former senator representing Kaduna Central, has condemned Aminu Masari, Katsina State Governor, for offering houses, market stalls and farmlands to bandits, as a measure to stem their criminal activities in the state.
Governor Masari’s proposal was for only bandits who were willing to surrender and handover their arms to security operatives.
But, reacting via his Twitter handle on Thursday, Sani noted that the proposal by the Governor amounted to rewarding terror.
He said the measure will, however, motivate those who were not part of the criminal group to join and further worsen the security situation in the entire North-West and North-Central region.
“Katsina Government proposal to offer Bandits Farmlands,Market stalls and Houses amounts to appeasing and rewarding terror,” the former senator noted.
“It would only embolden the Bandits, encourage others to join and further escalate and worsen the situation in the north west and north central.”
