Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, former national chairman of the All Progressive Congress, has expressed his delight over the return of Yakubu Dogara, former speaker of the House of Representatives, into the party’s fold.
Dogara had alongside some other APC stalwarts, including ex-senate president, Bukola Saraki and former Kogi West Senator, Dino Melaye quit membership of the ruling party in 2018.
MERIDIAN SPY reported Friday, Mai Mala Buni, Chairman of the APC Caretaker/Convention Planning Committee and Governor of Kebbi State disclosed the return of the former speaker at the State House, Abuja.
The former speaker “is now a member of APC,” said Buni. Adding that the conditions that prompted Mr Dogara to leave the ruling party had now been eradicated.
The former speaker however declined to speak on his defection back to the APC, stating that he would speak at a later date.
Reacting on Friday, Odigie Oyegun told newsmen in Benin City Dogara would boost the fortunes of the party in the years ahead.
“It’s very welcome news. He is a very sober person, very deep and accommodating. It is definitely a welcome addition,” he said.
“His return will boost the fortunes of our party. When you get a man of that quality, it is always a good thing.”
